Topshop Aircushion Skin Perfector Foundation Review

Influenced by South Korean beauty, the cushion compacts are becoming increasingly popular in both the drugstore and high-end markets. Developed to combine makeup and skin care together it not only covers your skin but improves its feel, texture and overall health. Many makeup brands are catching onto the cushion compact idea and coming out with their own take on it. The launch of L'Oreal's Nude Magique cushion (review here) is when I first gave this type of foundation a go. Then came many more from brands: Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and now the newest Dream Cushion by Maybelline, which is yet to land in the UK. Having only tried a few cushion foundations I'm no expert in telling you the best one out there but this one from Topshop you will WANT to try!

Topshop's Aircushion Skin Perfector is an airbrush effect formula created for natural flawless skin. It is a sheer buildable formula with a weightless and fresh feel that adapts beautifully to your skin tone. As it's a buildable forumla, a light application leaves your skin looking fresh and natural, however it doesn't cover all redness and imperfections. Therefore I like to press more product on these areas for more coverage to even out my skin tone. I've tested this foundation with a sponge and brush and I do believe the best way to apply it, is with a brush. I like to use a dome buffing brush because it picks up more product when you press it into the cushion and distributes it evenly across the face. It gives me more coverage and makes my skin look more flawless by covering most of my redness and imperfections in one application.

Overall, I really like this foundation and the finish to it. It's going to be a perfect foundation for hot weather in the summer because of its lightweight and fresh feel. It also has a slight glow to it making your skin look really healthy. Now, I have combination to normal skin type and on me this foundation lasts around 9 hours with great coverage. I really love the concept of these cushion foundations by combing skin care ingredients with makeup because I do believe good healthy skin will make your foundation last longer and look more flawless.
